Tomato Cucumber raita recipe - Tamatar Kakdi Raita Recipe

If making raita with meals then try making scrumptious cucumber and tomato raita in this summer season. Serve chilled cucumber and tomato raita prepared with fresh curd, mint sprigs, black pepper and curry leaves tadka. 

Tomato Cucumber raita Ingredients

  • Cucumber - 2 (100 grams)
  • Tomato - 2 (100 grams)
  • Curd - 2 cup (500 grams)
  • Oil - 1 to 2 tsp
  • Mint sprigs - 10 to 12
  • Curry leaves - 10 to 12
  • Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  • Green chilly - 1 (finely chopped)
  • Salt - less than 1/4 tsp or as per taste
  • Black pepper - 1/2 tsp or as per taste
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

How to make Tamatar Kakdi Raita

Whisk the curd nicely. Wash the cucumber and tomato thoroughly, dry, remove stalk and chop them finely. 

Wash the mint leaves and curry leaves thoroughly and chop them finely. 

Mix finely chopped cucumber and tomato in curd.

Now add black salt, plain salt, finely chopped green chilly, mint sprigs and mix well. Heat some oil in a small pan. When oil is hot, add cumin seeds. After sauteing cumin seeds, add asafoetida, curry leaves (finely chopped). Turn off the flame and pour the tadka over the raita. Mix well. 

Delicious and mouth watering cucumber-tomato raita is ready. 

Serve this tantalizing cucumber-tomato raita with meals and enjoy eating. 

Suggestion:

  • While cutting cucumber, do taste it as it sometimes taste bitter. 
  • Remove the seeds from tomato, if you don't prefer eating them.
