How to make Indian Breaded Mushroom or Mushroom Bonda

Firstly mix gram flour and corn flour by adding little water at a time until all lumps get dissolved and prepare a soft batter. Add more water in the mixture until you get a batter with thick consistency so that the mushrooms get coated easily

Clean all mushrooms with wet cloth properly and slice them into two halves. If you like you can also use whole mushroom as it is for making mushroom bonda.

Heat oil in a pan, meanwhile take one mushroom slice at a time and dip into corn flour mixture and coat it with bread crumbs. Place it on a plate. Prepare all mushrooms like wise.

When oil gets hot enough place bread crumbs coated mushrooms gently in the pan. Place as many as possible mushroom pieces in the pan and cook on medium flame until they get golden brown color. Fry all mushroom pieces like wise.

Serve crispy and crunchy mushroom bonda with green coriander chutney or tomato sauce.

Caution:

  • Don’t fry mushroom bonda for too long. If fired for long they tend to lose their moisture in the oil. Fry them until the upper layer gets crispy.
  • If fried on medium flame it will absorb oil. Fry these bonda’s on medium and high flame and take them out in a plate covered with paper napkin.
