Maheri can be prepared with wheat, millet or broken rice. We are making millet maheri. The method is same for maheri made from other ingredients.
Boil daliya in a utensil with thrice as much water, as daliya. Add daliya only when the water is hot and keep stirring with a spoon. After the water boils, switch the flame to low. Keep stirring in small intervals.
After the daliya becomes soft and gels well with the water, add the matha and keep stirring till it boils. Add salt and cook the daliya for another 3 to 4 minutes on a low flame.
The Indian village's traditional Maheri is now ready to serve and eat along with coriander chutney or tomato chutney.
